Praying through Colossians

Praying through Colossians

I give thanks to You God, the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ for my faith in Christ Jesus
and the love You have put in my heart for all the saints because of the hope that is laid
up for me in heaven. I thank You for the Word of Truth, the Gospel which came to me
and that it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing in me since the day I received and
understood Your grace in Truth.

Father, I ask to be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and
understanding so that I may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord Jesus, to please Him
in all respects, to bear fruit in every good work and increase in the knowledge of You, oh
God.
Father, I ask to be strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might that I
may attain all steadfastness, patience and always giving You thanks because You have
qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Father, thank You for rescuing me from the domain of darkness and transferring me into
the kingdom of Your beloved Son, Jesus in whom I have redemption and forgiveness of
my sins.
Father, I believe that Jesus Christ is the image of You, the invisible God and is the
firstborn of all creation and that by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and
on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities.
I believe all things have been created through Him and for Him and He is before all
things and in Him all things are held together.
Father I believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the body, the Church and He is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead and that He Himself will come to have first place
in everything.
Father, thank You that it was Your good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him and
through Him to reconcile all things to Himself having made peace through the blood of
His cross, whether things on earth or things in heaven- Amen!
Father, I was formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds but Jesus
has now reconciled me in His fleshly body through death in order to present me before
You, holy and blameless and beyond reproach.
Father, please help me to continue in the faith, firmly established and steadfast and not
be moved away from the hope of the gospel which I have heard and received and was
proclaimed in all creation under heaven.
Father, help me to rejoice in my share of sufferings in my flesh, even as Paul did on
behalf of the body, the church. Lord, help me to be a good minister according to the
stewardship which You have bestowed on me, according to Your calling on my life, to
fully carry out the preaching and teaching of Your word for the benefit of the saints.
Praying through Colossians
Father I thank You that the mystery that was hidden from the past ages and generations
has now been manifested to Your saints and Your will was to make known the riches of
the glory of this mystery to me as a Gentile.
Father, I thank You that it is Christ in me, the hope of glory that was the mystery hidden.
Help me now to proclaim it and to admonish and teach every man with all wisdom, with
the motive and desire to present every man complete in Christ. Grant me the power and
strength in Christ to work mightily in these good works – Amen!
Chapter 2 –
Father, encourage my heart, knit it together in Your love that I may attain to all the
wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding with the results of the true
knowledge of Your mystery which is Christ Himself.
Father, help me to not be deluded by any persuasive argument but instead to be
disciplined and stable in my faith in Christ whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge.
Father, as I have received Your Son, help me to walk in Him, firmly root me and build
me up in Him and establish my faith as I receive instruction through Your Holy Spirit and
those You choose to disciple me. Help me to always show overflowing gratitude in this.
Father keep me from being taken captive through philosophy and empty deception,
according to the tradition of men and according to to the elementary principles of the
world rather than according to Christ.
Father, I thank You that in Him, all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form and in Him I
have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority. I am thankful
that I was circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, the removal of the body
of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ and having been buried with Him in baptism, I
was also raised up with Him through faith in the working of You, oh God, who raised
Him from the dead.
Father, when I was dead in my transgressions and the uncircumcision of my flesh, You
made me alive together with Your Son, Jesus Christ, forgiving me of all my
transgressions and canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against me
which was hostile to me. You have taken it out of the way and nailed it to the cross of
Christ. You disarmed the rulers and authorities and made public display of them and
triumphed over them through Him! You are an incredibly awesome God and I love and
worship You forever!
Father help me to be humble in knowing that no one is to act as my judge in regard to
food or drink or in respect to a festival or new moon or a Sabbath day, for I Know these
things are a mere shadow of things to come. Thank you that the substance of these
belongs to Christ. Protect me from those that would try to defraud me of my prize and

help me to discern from those that delight in self-abasement and the worship of the
angels, in taking a stand on visions they have seen, who are inflated without cause by
their fleshly minds, and not holding fast to the head, from which the entire body being
supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is
from God!
Father I have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world and though I am
living in the world I choose not to submit to decrees, such as “do not handle, do not
taste, do not touch!” accordance to the commandments and teachings of men.
Lord, help me to see and understand that though these matters have the appearance of
wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body,
they are of no value against fleshly indulgence.
Chapter 3
Father, thank You that I have been raised up with Christ, help me to keep seeking the
things above, where my Savior Jesus Christ is, because He is seated at Your right
hand!
Father, give me a mind that is set on the things above, not on the the things that are on
the earth. I consider myself as having died with Christ and my life is now hidden with
Christ in You, oh God my Father and because of this I will also be revealed with Him in
glory – Hallelujah!
Father, today, I consider the members of my earthly body as dead to immorality,
impurity, passion, evil desire and greed which I know all amount to idolatry and it is
because of these things that Your wrath will come upon the sons of disobedience.
Lord, I once walked in these evil ways when I was living in them but now, I put them all
aside; my anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from my mouth. I will not
lie to my brothers and sisters because I have laid aside the old self with all its evil
practices.
Father today, I put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according
to Your image whom You have created in me. And in this renewal there is no distinction
between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave
and freeman. Thank You that Christ is all and in all- Amen!
Father, as Your chosen child whom You have made holy and am beloved by You, I put
on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Help me Lord, to
bear with my brothers and sisters and forgive them and when I have a complaint against
any one of them, to forgive them just as Christ the Lord has forgiven me. This I know I
should do Lord; help me to be a doer oh God!
Praying through Colossians
Father, beyond all of this, I put on Your love, which is the perfect bond of unity. I open
my heart to the peace of Christ and let it in to rule in my heart to which I am called in
one body, the body of Christ, and I am so very thankful of this!
Today I will let the word of Christ richly dwell within me and with all wisdom, teaching
and admonishing others with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, I will make melody
in my heart with thankfulness to You, oh God my Father.
In whatever I do today Father, whether in word or in deed, I will do all in the name my
Lord Jesus Christ and give thanks through Him to You, my God – Amen!
Father, I pray for the grace for my wife to be subject to me as is fitting to the Lord and I
ask that You give me the grace and power and humility to love her unconditionally and
without any bitterness towards her.
Father, I pray for the grace to be given to my children to be obedient to us as parents in
all things and to understand that this is pleasing to You and as a father to them, help me
Lord, not to provoke them to anger and exasperate them so they won’t lose heart.
Forgive me for failing many times in this area of my parenting.
Father as an employee help me to obey my employer and not just with external service
with the motive of pleasing men, but instead with a sincerity of heart with the fear of the
Lord and in whatever I do, I will do my work heartily, as unto You, Lord, rather than for
men because I know that I will receive the reward of my inheritance from You.
Today, it is the Lord Christ whom I serve with the understanding that if I do wrong I will
receive the consequences of the wrong that I have done, and that without partiality. –
Please help me to do whats right in Your eyes today!
Chapter 4
Father, I pray that all my brothers and sisters who are employers would treat their
employees with justice and fairness in the fear of the Lord.
Today I will devote myself to prayer and keep alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving. I
pray for open doors for the word so that I may speak forth the mystery of Christ in a
clear way with sound speech.
Father, help me to conduct myself with wisdom toward unbelievers and to make the
most of every opportunity to share. Let my speech alays be with grace, as though
seasoned with salt and to know how I should respond to each person You put in front of
me.
Father, I pray for all those who are imprisoned for the sake of the Gospel and all my
fellow laborers in the gospel and have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the gospel
and are suffering. Give them boldness, protect and keep them in Jesus Name – Amen!
