Praying Through 2 Peter – Chapter 1

Praying through 2 Peter – Chapter 1

Father in Heaven,
I thank You that I have received a faith of the same kind as the early Apostles and
Prophets by Your righteousness and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I ask that Your grace and
peace be multiplied toward me in the knowledge of You, oh God and of my Lord and
Savior Jesus.

Father, help me to see all that Your divine power has granted me. That I have the true
knowledge of everything pertaining to life and godliness from You because You have
called me by Your own glory and excellence and by this, You have granted to me Your
precious and magnificent promises so that by them I may become a partaker of the
divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Father, for this reason, I will apply all diligence and in my faith supply moral excellence
and in my moral excellence, knowledge, and in my knowledge, self control, and in my
self control, perseverance, and in my perseverance, godliness, and in my godliness,
brotherly kindness, and in my brotherly kindness, love. For I know Father, that if I
possess these qualities and continue to increase in them, I will be useful and fruitful in
the true knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ.
Father, please help me not to be lacking in any of these qualities. Keep me from being
blind or short sighted. Help me to never forget my purification from my former sins and
be even more diligent to make certain about Your calling and choosing of me. I know
Lord, that if I practice these things, I will never stumble and in this way, the entrance to
the eternal kingdom of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to
me.
Father help me to be reminded and to also remind my brothers and sisters of these
things, even though we already know them and are established in the truth which is
present in us. Lord, I know it is the right thing to do as long as I am in my earthly
dwelling, to stir up my brothers and sisters by way of reminder, knowing that our time of
departure is near as the prophesy and testimony of Jesus has made it clear to us and
so that after our departure, those we leave behind will be able to call these things to
mind.
Father, I know that I am not following cleverly devised tales of the power and coming of
my Lord Jesus Christ and that the early Apostles were eyewitnesses of His majesty and
heard Your voice proclaiming Your Son in who You are well pleased. And having the
prophetic word made more sure, I will pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place,
until the day dawns and the morning star arises in my heart.
Father, I know that no prophesy of scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation and
no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit
spoke from You my God.

Chapter 2
Father, in Jesus Name, I ask for wisdom, discernment and understanding to be able to
know the difference between the false prophet, the false teacher and destructive
heresies that are secretly introduced amongst Your people.
Father, help me not to follow after those who follow their own sensuality who malign the
truth and in their greed, exploit with false words. Thank You for the understanding that
their judgement from long ago is not idle and their destruction is not asleep.
Lord, I thank You that You make the distinction between the righteous and unrighteous
and that You know how to rescue the godly from temptation.
Father, You did not spare angels when they sinned but cast them into hell and
committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment and did not spare the ancient
world, but preserved Noah and his wife and children when You brought the flood upon
the world of the ungodly. You condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to
destruction by reducing them to ashes as an example to those who indulge in the flesh
in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Who are self willed and do not tremble when
they revile angelic majesties.
Father, You created the angels, who are greater in might and power and they do not
bring a reviling judgment against them before You, Lord. They are like unreasoning
animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have
no knowledge, and will just as in the destruction of those creatures, also be destroyed,
suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong.
Father You have made it clear in You Word through Your servant Peter’s epistle that
they count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime and are stains and blemishes, reveling in
their deceptions, as they carouse with us, having eyes full of adultery that never cease
from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children,
forsaking the right way and have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the
son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but he received a rebuke for his
own transgression and a mute donkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the
madness of the prophet.
Father, You call these springs without water and mists driven by a storm, from whom the
black darkness has been reserved. They speak out arrogant words of vanity and entice
by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in
error, promising us freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption.
Lord, I understand that by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved and if after
having escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, that if he is again entangled in them and is overcome, the last state has
become worse for him than the first and it would have been better for him not to have

known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy
commandment handed on to him. It has happened to him according to the true proverb,
“A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the
mire.”
Father, You Word is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword which
pierces as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to
judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. I tremble at Your Word, I receive and
take head and submit to Your Word. I confess my sins of the lust of the flesh and eyes
and the pride of life. I acknowledge and accept Your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior
and believe that You sent Him to save me from my sins by shedding His blood for me
and for all mankind. I believe that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one can
come to You, Father except by Him. I believe that You raised Him from the dead and He
is seating at Your right hand as my Advocate and High Priest making intercession for
me and all who believe and are called by His Name. And I thank You, Father that You
are able and willing to keep me and all of us whom Jesus our Lord has redeemed and
committed to You.
Thank You for the grace and gift of faith. I worship and praise You and offer myself up to
You as a living sacrifice, make me holy and acceptable in Your sight. Search my heart
Oh God, and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way of
righteousness for Your Name’s sake – Amen.
