1 John Chapter 5

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

1 John 5:1-3

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

(John 14:12-18

12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 23:1-8

1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.

“Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra-long tassels. And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.’

“Don’t let anyone call you ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters.) Continue reading

(1 Corinthians 14:27-33

27 No more than two or three should speak in tongues. They must speak one at a time, and someone must interpret what they say. 28 But if no one is present who can interpret, they must be silent in your church meeting and speak in tongues to God privately.

29 Let two or three people prophesy, and let the others evaluate what is said. 30 But if someone is prophesying and another person receives a revelation from the Lord, the one who is speaking must stop. 31 In this way, all who prophesy will have a turn to speak, one after the other, so that everyone will learn and be encouraged. 32 Remember that people who prophesy are in control of their spirit and can take turns. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.

Matthew 24:3-8

Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.) Continue reading

Praying Through 1 Thessalonians

 Praying Through 1 Thessalonians

Father God, today I give You thanks for the grace and peace I have received in the Lord
Jesus Christ. I also give thanks to You for my brothers and sisters in Christ for their work
in faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ and in Your
presence.

I thank You that You chose me to receive the Gospel in word and in power through the
conviction of the Holy Spirit. Help me always to walk in such a conviction that I may be
approved amongst my brethren and in Your sight that others may imitate my life and
walk in You oh Lord. Help me always to receive Your Word in any and all tribulations
with the joy of the Holy Spirit so that it will be an example to all believers whom I come
in contact with and that the Word of the Lord would sound forth from me in every place
that I live my faith and witness toward You. I pray that my witness would be one that is
reported by others of how I turned from idols to serve a living and true God and how I
am waiting for Your Son from heaven whom You raised from the dead, the Lord Jesus,
who rescues me from the wrath to come.

Chapter 2
Father, whenever I suffer or am mistreated for the sake of the gospel, grant me the
boldness in You to speak the gospel all the more in spite of the opposition. Father, I
pray that my exhortation would never come from error, impurity or by way of deceit but
instead being approved by You and entrusted with the gospel, I would speak, not as
pleasing to men but to You, Oh God, because You are the One who examines my heart.
Keep me from flattering speech, or from any pretext of greed, or from seeking any glory
from men, either from those I know or those I do not. Guard my heart oh Lord, and help
me to never take advantage of, or assert the authority of any position in Your Kingdom
with these kind of evil motives.
Help me to be gentle amongst those I proclaim the gospel and disciple. Even as a
nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children, help me to have fond affection for
them and be willing to share my life with them because they are very dear to You and
should be to me also.
Lord, help me to be devout and upright without blame in behavior before my brethren
and labor hard day and night in hardship when necessary as not to be a burden to any
of them. Help me to exhort, encourage and implore each one of them even as a father
would his own children so that we will walk in a manner worthy of You oh God, who has
called us into Your own kingdom and glory!
Father, help me to follow Christ’s example even as the Apostle Paul did by enduring the
same sufferings knowing that it is Your Word that performs its work in all who believe
and that our hope, joy and crown of exultation are those presented to Christ at His
coming whom we have labored hard for in His Kingdom! Let winning souls to Your
kingdom always be my glory and joy!

(John 15:15-21

15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

18 “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. 20 Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.21 They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me.)

1 John 3:14-15

14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

(Matthew 5:18-24

18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.19 So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

20 “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

21 “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

23 “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24 leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

Galatians 5:17-23

17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!) Continue reading

Dear God my Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, Your grace and peace I receive today
because You gave Yourself up for my sins and rescued me from this present evil age!
All according to Your will oh God my Father to whom be the glory forevermore- Amen!
Help me not to turn away and desert You oh God. You have called me by the grace of
Christ. Keep me from those who would disturb me and who want to distort the gospel of
Christ. Help me to know and understand that even if any man or even an angel from
heaven should preach to me a gospel contrary to what I have received from You, he is
to be accursed!

Help me always to seek Your favor and not the favor of men. I want to be a bondservant
of Christ alone. You have set me apart, even from my mothers womb and You
gave me revelation knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ. I was formerly a
sinner, lost and sinning against You, through ignorant religious hypocrisy and
ungodliness. But when You oh God, called me through Your grace and it pleased You to
reveal Your Son, Jesus to me so that I might preach the Good News to others and have
a testimony that I was once lost and an enemy of God but have now been reconciled to
You my God, through the cross and by the blood of Jesus Christ my Lord that others
would glorify You because of this, my testimony. Continue reading

(1 John 4:8-12

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

John 1:10-14

10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.) Continue reading

(Romans 12:1-5

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

James 4:2-7

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,

“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”

So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.) Continue reading

Father, help me to contend earnestly for the faith which has been handed down once for
all to all Your Saints. Help me to discern and notice those that have crept in who have
long beforehand been marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn
Your grace into licentiousness and deny my only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Don’t
let me fall into their deception or walk in this darkness Lord.
Father, though I know these things once for all, I am reminded that after You saved a
people out of Egypt, You subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. And angels
who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, You have kept
in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. Continue reading

Father God, today I am thankful that what was from the beginning, what the Apostles
heard and saw with their eyes and what they touched with their hands concerning the
Word of Life that was manifested to them. They saw, testified and proclaimed then and
now through Your written Word the eternal life, which was with You and made manifest

Father, I am thankful that what they saw and heard, they proclaimed to all who would
believe, so that I as a believer would have fellowship along with them. I thank You for
this fellowship I now have with You and Your Son, Jesus Christ. I thank You that all
these things were written so that my joy may be made complete. The joy of the Lord is
my strength!
Father, God of light whom no darkness dwells at all, keep me in fellowship with You. Let
me not walk in darkness. Keep me from living a lie by not practicing the truth. Help me
to walk in Your light and have fellowship with my brothers and sisters who do the same.
Thank You that when I do this, the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin.
Father, I confess that I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory and I ask for Your
forgiveness in Jesus. I thank You that Jesus was, is and always will be my faithful and
righteous Savior and You forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me of all my
unrighteousness because of His perfect obedience and sacrifice on the cross. Father let
me not to ever get self righteous and prideful nor be deceived into thinking that I have
not sinned. I know that those that do this make You out to be a liar and Your word is not
in them. Father deliver me from a religious, hypocritical and self righteous spirit! Continue reading
