To address the roots and what springs up from it, we have come up with 5 questions to run it through as stated here.

  1. What does the world say?
    1. The culture, the flesh, the schemes of the enemy
  2. How is my character affected?
    1. Compromised, shame, self-loathing, mistrust
  3. How is this affecting those closest to me?
    1. God, The Church, wives, parents, siblings, children, co-workers
  4. What does God say about it?
    1. Diving into the scripture
  5. Do I need to change my mindset about it?
    1. Repentance, kingdom minded, calling, goal, mission, vision

In the first study, we discussed “The Plan” (go back and review if necessary) Do we know our calling and if so does these roots of Pride and Bitterness and the manifestation of being UNLOVING take us off that end goal/vision/mission/calling? To find out let’s start with #1
#1 What does the world say?

He who gives away shall have real gain. He who subdues himself shall be free; he shall cease to be a slave of passions. The righteous man casts off evil, and by rooting out lust, bitterness, and illusion do we reach Nirvana.
– Buddha
“People sometimes say that you must believe in feelings deep inside, otherwise you’d never be confident of things like ‘My wife loves me’. But this is a bad argument. There can be plenty of evidence that somebody loves you. All through the day when you are with somebody who loves you, you see and hear lots of little tidbits of evidence, and they all add up. It isn’t purely inside feeling, like the feeling that priests call revelation. There are outside things to back up the inside feeling: looks in the eye, tender notes in the voice, little favors and kindnesses; this is all real evidence.”

Richard Dawkins atheist

As other’s have pointed out, love can’t be precisely measured or even precisely defined, but it’s still a very real emotion. Just as it is possible to love someone/something that doesn’t exist, it’s also possible to have a real belief in something that doesn’t exist.
For instance, we still feel love for others who have died. The target of their affection no longer exists, but their feelings for them are still there and still real. Taking it one step further, it’s possible for someone to love a fictional character, to feel a great deal of affection for them, even though they never existed. The character was never real, but their love for them is. That love doesn’t prove the character exists. If someone believes in a fictional character and loves them their belief is a very real (although unquantifiable) thing. It doesn’t prove that the character exists, though.

Why Christianity is unloving, especially moderate Christians. Ignore all the various splinters of Christianity, the endless denominations and sects, contradictory belief systems, and claims to being the “one true religion” made by every religion. This is about Christianity in the broader sense: the 2,000,000,000+ people who claim to be Christian. And yes, there will be bits borrowed here and there from all our favorite authors and atheist figures.
The one basic tenet of faith that unites the Christian world is that Jesus died for your sins. This is what separates Christians from, say Muslims of whom believe Jesus was a real person, a great prophet, or even atheists who might feel that he was a historical figure of little importance.
Most every Christian will also make the claim of peace and loving your fellow man. “God is love”, “Love your neighbor as yourself”, the theme of loving your fellow man is reiterated throughout Christianity (obviously in spite of the actions of their followers). However, this idea of love is in direct contradiction to the concept that Jesus died for your sins.
How?
To accept that Jesus died for your sins, one must first conclude that we are sinful. Do we do this by choice? Or is it inherent after the “fall of mankind” described in Genesis? It doesn’t matter whether or not the Christian takes the account of Adam as literal or figurative, somehow we come to the point that humanity today is a race of imperfect people who sin. Thus requiring Jesus ransom sacrifice to redeem us of that sin.
To conclude that we are inherently sinful, demands that we jump to assumption that the person you are claiming to love, is already broken, requires deific assistance to get fixed and become a better person. There’s a level of condemnation that comes with it that nearly all Christians don’t even notice that they do. That we come out of the womb in debt, that we born imperfect, is no different than thinking that someone is less of a man because he was born black, or that another human is less capable because she was born a woman.
We as a society, for the most part, have moved beyond this thinking when it comes to race, gender, and origin. Yet all Christians still hold on to this idea of being unable to accept someone for who they truly are until they are redeemed by Jesus. Only then are they capable of becoming the human that they can be.
This inability to accept your fellow man for who they truly are, escapes the notice of nearly all Christians. How can they claim to love the each other when they cannot even begin to accept us for who we are, based on the merits of our own actions?
This is why the entire concept of Christianity is one that is unloving. Moderate Christians are the most at fault of this. They are the ones that are usually preaching the most about love, yet they are still unable to accept us for who we are.
If one does not feel that we “sin”, if they can accept us for who we are, then of what need is there for Jesus ransom sacrifice? It is completely void, it is null, his actions regardless of validity are moot. Without sin, there is no need for Jesus. Without Jesus, why be Christian?
So the next time a Christian, no matter the denomination, background, or level of insanity, tries to claim that they love each other, or that God loves you, or that Jesus loves you, feel free to explain to them why merely believing in Jesus prevents them from being capable of being truly loving.
TL:DR Believing that Jesus died for our sins, means that we “sin” or are “sinful”, and thus requires one to not be able to accept us for who we are.

– Ex-Jehovah’s Witness

#2 How is my character affected?

If we are unloving, we have taken the place of God. In pride, we set ourselves up as judge, jury and executioner. We compare ourselves against the failings of others instead of the perfect measure of our Father in heaven. Create our own definition of love and hold others to the standard we’ve have set. In bitterness, we treat others with less dignity because they are not worthy of our love.

#3 How is this affecting those closest to me?

If we practice being unloving, we are teaching those closest to us to be unloving (a vicious cycle). Selfishness begets selfishness and it takes a truly loving act to break that cycle. We diminish the dignity of those around us, make them feel unworthy of love or honor unless they conform to our expectations. We cause instability and insecurity as they question the relationship with you especially in the case of dads. We and our children will see and relate to God very much how we relate to our earthly father. If we demonstrate being unloving, our children will see God as distant and unloving.

#4 What does God say about it?

Ephesians 6:2-6

Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15

10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. 11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

1 Corinthians 1:9-10

God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Romans 1:28-32

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag andis not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffereddoes not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 John 3:11-18

11 For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.

13 Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

1 John 4:15-21

15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19 We love, because He first loved us. 20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

 John 3:17-21

17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Romans 14:13-18

13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this—not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way. 14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.15 For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.

#5 Do I need to change my mindset about it? Am I guilty?

Based on the scriptures we just read, in what ways can we change our mindset about being unloving?

GET INTO THE WORD DAILY, THE WORD IS TRUTH. Believe Genesis 1:1 the rest is easy then. Get Real! Confess one to another, repent (180 degree turn) and pray for one another.

Brothers we believe that we live in such a time (and what a privilege it is) that we need to be awake, vigilante, sober and full of the Holy Spirit having our lamps full of oil and the extra oil ready to go. God has given us everything we need to walk after Him to love Him with all our heart mind soul and strength, to love one another, and serve His set apart ones. Let’s go to the stream and be the ones that cup the water to our mouths to drink and not have our heads down in the water lapping like dogs. Let’s be Mighty Men of Valor. (Judges 7)

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

To continue our study, we are going to start out by addressing PRIDE which was the #1 issue that was repeated as a problem for men in our poll. PRIDE is a root of the outward fleshly manifestations as referenced in the dying tree or weed as seen here and this week we’ll address the manifestation of hidden sin.

Click to download and print

To address the root and what springs up from it, we have come up with 5 questions to run it through as stated here.

  1. What does the world say?
    The culture, the flesh, the schemes of the enemy
  2. How is my character affected?
    Compromised, shame, self-loathing, mistrust
  3. How is this affecting those closest to me?
    God, The Church, wives, parents, siblings, children, co-workers
  4. What does God say about it?
    Diving into the scripture
  5. Do I need to change my mindset about it?
    Repentance, kingdom minded, calling, goal, mission, vision

In the first study, we discussed “The Plan” (go back and review if necessary) Do we know our calling and if so does this root Pride and manifestation of HIDDEN SIN take us off that end goal/vision/mission/calling? To find out let’s start with #1

#1 What does the world say?

We are all, in a sense, experts on secrecy. From earliest childhood we feel its mystery and attraction. We know both the power it confers and the burden it imposes. We learn how it can delight, give breathing space and protect.
Sissela Bok
A secret is a strange thing. There are three kinds of secrets. One is the sort everyone knows about, the sort you need at least two people for. One to keep it. One to never know. The second is a harder kind of secret: one you keep from yourself. Every day, thousands of confessions are kept from their would-be confessors, none of these people knowing that their never-admitted secrets all boil down to the same three words: I am afraid. And then there is the third kind of secret, the most hidden kind. A secret no one knows about. Perhaps it was known once, but was taken to the grave. Or maybe it is a useless mystery, arcane and lonely, unfound because no one ever looked for it.
Sometimes, some rare times, a secret stays undiscovered because it is something too big for the mind to hold. It is too strange, too vast, too terrifying to contemplate.
All of us have secrets in our lives. We’re keepers or kept from, players or played. Secrets and cockroaches — that’s what will be left at the end of it all.”

― Maggie Stiefvater, The Dream Thieves

“There are three kinds of secrets. Something that you hide at the bottom of your heart because you don’t want it to be mentioned. Something that you can’t say even if you want to and something that you hope someone asks about even though you’re hiding it.”
― Kazuhiko Yukimi

What would it take for each person to own and allow their unique brilliance, and stop judging themselves and others? What if it is totally ok to be you?  -Rebecca

#2 How is my character affected?

If we have hidden sin, others may not know it, but we do. It effects our self-image and self-worth (your conscience knows you’re doing wrong) which makes us more self-aware, self-focused and not God focused which effects our behavior around others. Hidden sin also acts as a ceiling between God and our prayers (Psalm 66:18). Furthermore, hidden sin of a sexual nature is sin against God and our own body and since we are made in the image of God we are diminishing are own dignity and any others involved when we sin sexually. Diminishing another’s or one’s own dignity is the very core of poor character. Hidden sin has its root is PRIDE because we don’t believe (or agree with) God and His word about confessing and forsaking sin.

#3 How is this affecting those closest to me?

SIN ALWAYS HAS CONSEQUENSES BEYOND YOURSELF, collateral damage is unavoidable. SIN IS ALWAYS SELFISH, true love (agape) is the opposite of selfishness. If we’re sinning and hiding it, those closest to us are being affected (and infected, more is caught than taught) and worse yet and because of the nature of hiding sin and the self-focus it causes we probably don’t even notice the damage we are leaving in our wake. 🙁

#4 What does God say about it?

Proverbs 28:11-14

11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes,
But the poor who has understanding sees through him.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory,
But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
14 How blessed is the man who fears always,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Psalm 90:5-10

You have swept them away like a flood, they fall asleep;
In the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew.
In the morning it flourishes and sprouts anew;
Toward evening it fades and withers away.

For we have been consumed by Your anger
And by Your wrath we have been dismayed.
You have placed our iniquities before You,
Our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
For all our days have declined in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a sigh.
10 As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, eighty years,
Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow;
For soon it is gone and we fly away.

2 Kings 17:7-12

Now this came about because the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and they had feared other gods and walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the sons of Israel, and in the customs of the kings of Israel which they had introduced. The sons of Israel did things secretly which were not right against the Lord their God. Moreover, they built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city. 10 They set for themselves sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, 11 and there they burned incense on all the high places as the nations did which the Lord had carried away to exile before them; and they did evil things provoking the Lord. 12 They served idols, concerning which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”

Job 24:12-19

12 “From the city men groan,
And the souls of the wounded cry out;
Yet God does not pay attention to folly.

13 “Others have been with those who rebel against the light;
They do not want to know its ways
Nor abide in its paths.14 “The murderer arises at dawn; He kills the poor and the needy,
And at night he is as a thief.
15 “The eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight, Saying, ‘No eye will see me.’
And he disguises his face.
16 “In the dark they dig into houses,
They shut themselves up by day;
They do not know the light.
17 “For the morning is the same to him as thick darkness,
For he is familiar with the terrors of thick darkness.

18 “They are insignificant on the surface of the water;
Their portion is cursed on the earth.
They do not turn toward the vineyards.
19 “Drought and heat consume the snow waters,
So does Sheol those who have sinned.

Isaiah 29:13-16

13 Then the Lord said,

“Because this people draw near with their words
And honor Me with their lip service,
But they remove their hearts far from Me,
And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote,
14 Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous;
And the wisdom of their wise men will perish,
And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.”

15 Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord,
And whose deeds are done in a dark place,
And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”
16 You turn things around!
Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay,
That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”;
Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?

Ezekiel 8:9-13

And He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations that they are committing here.” 10 So I entered and looked, and behold, every form of creeping things and beasts and detestable things, with all the idols of the house of Israel, were carved on the wall all around.11 Standing in front of them were seventy elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan standing among them, each man with his censer in his hand and the fragrance of the cloud of incense rising. 12 Then He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are committing in the dark, each man in the room of his carved images? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.’” 13 And He said to me, “Yet you will see still greater abominations which they are committing.”

Ephesians 5:10-14

10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”

Proverbs 7:6-23

For at the window of my house I looked out through my lattice,
And I saw among the naive,
And discerned among the youths A young man lacking sense,
Passing through the street near her corner;
And he takes the way to her house,
In the twilight, in the evening, In the middle of the night and in the darkness.
10 And behold, a woman comes to meet him, Dressed as a harlot and cunning of heart.
11 She is boisterous and rebellious, Her feet do not remain at home;
12 She is now in the streets, now in the squares, And lurks by every corner.
13 So she seizes him and kisses him And with a brazen face she says to him:
14 “I was due to offer peace offerings;
Today I have paid my vows.
15 “Therefore I have come out to meet you,
To seek your presence earnestly, and I have found you.
16 “I have spread my couch with coverings,
With colored linens of Egypt.
17 “I have sprinkled my bed
With myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
18 “Come, let us drink our fill of love until morning;
Let us delight ourselves with caresses.
19 “For my husband is not at home,
He has gone on a long journey;
20 He has taken a bag of money with him,
At the full moon he will come home.”
21 With her many persuasions she entices him;
With her flattering lips she seduces him.
22 Suddenly he follows her
As an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or as one in fetters to the discipline of a fool,
23 Until an arrow pierces through his liver;
As a bird hastens to the snare,
So he does not know that it will cost him his life.

Romans 13:8-14

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. 12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

1 Thessalonians 5:3-10

While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.

Ephesians 5:8-14

for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason it says,

“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.”

James 5:14-20

14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. 18 Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit. 19 My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

#5 Do I need to change my mindset about it? Am I guilty?

Based on the scriptures we just read, in what ways can we change our mindset about HIDDEN SIN?

Confess (bring it into the light, and it can no longer have control over you)

One to Another This is what the brothers are here for.

Repent (go and sin no more)

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Get rid of the hidden sin and watch the power of God transform your life.

Not Uncommon to Man – Fear

Not Uncommon to Man – Fear

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

To continue our study, we are going to start out by addressing PRIDE which was the #1 issue that was repeated as a problem for men in our poll. PRIDE is a root of the outward fleshly manifestations as referenced in the dying tree or weed as seen here and this week we’ll address the manifestation of fear.

Click to download and print

To address the root and what springs up from it, we have come up with 5 questions to run it through as stated here.

  1. What does the world say?
    1. The culture, the flesh, the schemes of the enemy
  2. How is my character affected?
    1. Compromised, shame, self-loathing, mistrust
  3. How is this affecting those closest to me?
    1. God, The Church, wives, parents, siblings, children, co-workers
  4. What does God say about it?
    1. Diving into the scripture
  5. Do I need to change my mindset about it?
    1. Repentance, kingdom minded, calling, goal, mission, vision

In the first study, we discussed “The Plan” Do we know our calling and if so does this root Pride and manifestation of FEAR take us off that end goal/vision/mission/calling? To find out let’s start with #1
#1 What does the world say?

Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.
Bertrand Russell

Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.
Karl Augustus Menninger

Who sees all beings in his own self, and his own self in all beings, loses all fear.
Isa Upanishad, Hindu Scripture

Fear is only as deep as the mind allows.
Japanese Proverb

The enemy is fear. We think it is hate; but, it is fear.
Gandhi

#2 How is my character affected?

Paralyzed, focusing on circumstances rather than God who is in control of all. Unbelieving, Complaining, Insecure, Worrier, Anxious

#3 How is this affecting those closest to me?

Living in fear can cause those around us to feel insecure especially our wives and children. Takes others focus off God and places it on ourselves. Continue reading

In the first study, we discussed “The Plan” Do we know our calling and if so does this root Pride and manifestation of UNBELIEF take us off that end goal/vision/mission/calling? To find out let’s start with #1

#1 What does God say about it?

2 Kings 17:14-15

However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. They rejected His statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers and His warnings with which He warned them And they followed vanity and became vain, and went after the nations which surrounded them, concerning which the LORD had commanded them not to do like them.

Psalm 78:17-19

Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert. And in their heart, they put God to the test By asking food according to their desire. Then they spoke against God; They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?

Psalm 95:8-11

Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness, “When your fathers tested Me, They tried Me, though they had seen My work. “For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

Isaiah 65:1-3

1 “I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me;
I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me.
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I,’
To a nation which did not call on My name.
“I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people,
Who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts,
A people who continually provoke Me to My face,
Offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on bricks;

Acts 7:48-53

48 However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is My throne,
And earth is the footstool of My feet;
What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord,
‘Or what place is there for My repose?
50 ‘Was it not My hand which made all these things?’

51 “You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did. 52 Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become; 53 you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it.”

Hebrews 3:12-19

12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, 15 while it is said,

“Today if you hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.”

16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Romans 4:19-22

19 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; 20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. 22 Therefore it was also credited to him as righteousness.

John 5:36-39

36 But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish—the very works that I do—testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me.

37 And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. 38 You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent.

39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

Titus 1:12-16

12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

2 Thessalonians 2:7-14

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 1:12-15

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.

Psalm 78:30-33

30 Before they had satisfied their desire,
While their food was in their mouths,
31 The anger of God rose against them
And killed some of their stoutest ones,
And subdued the choice men of Israel.
32 In spite of all this they still sinned
And did not believe in His wonderful works.
33 So He brought their days to an end in futility
And their years in sudden terror.

Romans 10:14-15

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!”

#2 What does the world say?

Everything is relative!

What is Truth? That is your truth, I have my own truth.

“I’m an atheist; I suppose you can call me a sort of libertarian anarchist. I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It’s not enough to say that I don’t believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing: I am offended by some of the things said in the Bible and the Koran, and I refute them.” – Emma Thompson

Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man — living in the sky — who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want You to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time! But He loves you.” – George Carlin

“My belief system is that when this is over, it’s over. That you don’t look down from heaven and wait for your loved ones to join you… your molecules continue and in due time become something else.” – William Shatner

#3 How is my character affected?

Self Confidence, No Confidence, Worry, Anxiety, Stunted Growth Spiritually, Make yourself God, Judgmental, Unforgiving

#4 How is this affecting those closest to me?

Not honoring your Father in Heaven, Quenching the Holy Spirit, Fostering uncertainty and faithlessness, causing worry and anxiety, lack of trust due to wavering, Destroying your witness, Setting a bad example (Children – Most things are caught not taught.)

#5 Do I need to change my mindset about it? Am I guilty?

  1. What does God say about it?
    1. Diving into the scripture
  2. What does the world say?

    1. God, The Church, wives, parents, siblings, children, co-workers
  5. Do I need to change my mindset about it?
    1. Repentance, kingdom minded, calling, goal, mission, vision

Last week we discussed “The Plan” Do we know our calling and if so does this root Pride and manifestation of Self-will take us off that end goal/vision/mission/calling? To find out let’s start with #1

  1. What does God say about it?

Isaiah 30:14-16

14 Whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter’s jar, So ruthlessly shattered That a sherd will not be found among its pieces To take fire from a hearth Or to scoop water from a cistern.” 15 For thus the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” But you were not willing, 16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses,” Therefore you shall flee! “And we will ride on swift horses,” Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift.

2 Peter 2:9-11

then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

Psalm 75:3-7

The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I set up its pillars firmly. Selah “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn. Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’” For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south.
But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.

Nehemiah 9:15-17

15 You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, And brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, And told them to go in to possess the land Which You had sworn to give them. 16 “But they and our fathers acted proudly, Hardened their necks, And did not heed Your commandments. 17 They refused to obey, And they were not mindful of Your wonders That You did among them. But they hardened their necks, And in their rebellion They appointed a leader To return to their bondage. But You are God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them.

Jeremiah 7:23-26

23 But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’ 24 Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward. 25 Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them. 26 Yet they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.

Titus 1:5-9

For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you— if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.

Hebrews 3:7-12

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ 11 So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’” 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

Proverbs 29:1

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Psalm 32:8-10

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.

#2 What does the world say?

“My main goal is to be a self-made man and have control over what’s mine.” Kevin Hart

“I’m self-made. I always wanted to make myself a better person, because I was not educated. But that was my dream – to have class.” Tina Turner

“When did it become something of shame or ridicule to be a self-made man in America?” Glenn Beck

“The achievements of willpower are almost beyond computation. Scarcely anything seems impossible to the man who can will strongly enough and long enough.” Orison Swett Marden

“Willpower is the key to success. Successful people strive no matter what they feel by applying their will to overcome apathy, doubt or fear.” Dan Millman

“In the absence of willpower the most complete collection of virtues and talents is wholly worthless.” Aleister Crowley

#3 How is my character affected?

I sit on the throne of my life, Thief – Taking Gods Glory, Earthly minded, Selfish, Arrogant, Narcissistic, Overbearing

#4 How is this affecting those closest to me?

Quenching the Holy Spirit, Destroying your witness, Children – Most things are caught not taught., Diminishing your spouse and her role.

#5 Do I need to change my mindset about it? Am I guilty?

Get Real! Confess one to another, repent (180 degree turn) and pray for one another.

To address the root and what springs up from it, we have come up with 5 questions to run it through as stated here.
1. What does God say about it?
a. Diving into the scripture
2. What does the world say?
a. The culture, the flesh, the schemes of the enemy
3. How is my character affected?
a. Compromised, shame, self-loathing, mistrust

a. God, The Church, wives, parents, siblings, children, co-workers
5. Do I need to change my mindset about it?
a. Repentance, kingdom minded, calling, goal, mission, vision
The 5th question requires action and to fully know what action we must take we must know the “Plan” (our calling)

God has a calling and plan for each of us. It is vital that we know and understand what that calling is “where there is no vision the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).

Luke 14:27-29

27And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.
28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? 29Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you.

Proverbs 15:21-22

21Foolishness brings joy to those with no sense; a sensible person stays on the right path. 22 Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.

Psalm 143:7-9

7Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. 8 Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. 9Rescue me from my enemies, LORD; I run to you to hide me.

Proverbs 16:8-9

8 Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest. 9We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

John 15:15-17

15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. 17This is my command: Love each other.

1 Corinthians 1:28-29

28God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

Romans 8:27-29

27And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.28And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Philippians 3:13-15

13No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.15 Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

1 Peter 1:15-16

15But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

2 Timothy 1:8-10

8So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. 9For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.10And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.

Ecclesiastes 9:9-11

9 Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil. 10Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.
11 I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

So before we proceed into next week, let’s begin to pray and ask the Father what is our calling and what is the goal.
“Anything that refreshes you without distracting you from, diminishing or destroying your final goal (calling) is a legitimate pleasure in your life.” ~ Ravi Zacharias

13No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Not Uncommon To Man – Introduction

Not Uncommon to Man – Introduction

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

We’ve entitled this study “Not Uncommon to Man” (1 Cor. 10-13) which was born and will grow up and mature out a poll we’ve taken amongst the brothers as to what are the top 3 things we are dealing or struggling with in our lives right now. Believe it or not this is just a small sampling from 10 men but we believe it covers the bases.

In this bible study series, we are going to explore and conquer these issues together, with the guiding of the Holy Spirit, through the Word, prayer for one another, and yes even fellowship.

The illustration of the sick tree (maybe it’s more of a weed) demonstrates how all the issues stem from 3 main roots. It should be our goal to get at the root of the issues and with God’s grace, mercy, tenderness, and healing have them removed so that we walk in humility and victory, useful to our Father for every good work and become more then overcomers, finishing this race well and hearing those words “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your master.” Continue reading

Praying Through Ephesians

Praying Through Ephesians

Chapter 1

Blessed are You oh God, the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ. You have blessed me with
every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. You chose me in Him before the
foundation of the world, that I would be holy and blameless before You. In Your Love,
You predestined me to adoption as a son through Jesus Christ to Yourself, according to
the kind intention of Your will.

I praise the glory of Your grace which You have freely bestowed upon me in the Beloved
Jesus Christ. In Christ I have the redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of my
trespasses, according to the riches of Your grace which You have lavished on me.
In all Your wisdom and insight, You have made known to me the mystery of Your will,
according to Your kind intention which You purposed in Jesus with Your viewpoint and
administration that was suitable to the fulness of times in summing up of all things in
Christ to the praise of Your glory oh God my Father!
For this reason, I too with all my brothers and sisters in Christ, will not cease to give You
thanks and make mention of them in my prayers that You, the God of our Lord Jesus
Christ would give to us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of You, oh
God and that the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened, so that we will know what is
the hope of Your calling, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the
saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe. I
thank You that these are in accordance with the working of the strength of Your might
which You brought about in Christ, when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him
at Your right hand in the heavenly places, far above rule and authority and power and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to
come. You put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as the head over all
things to us, the church, which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all – AMEN! Continue reading

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

Psalm 51:

Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.

14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

18 Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

Isaiah 63:

7 I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord
And the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,
According to the multitude of His loving kindnesses.
8 For He said, “Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie.”
So He became their Savior.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted,
And the Angel of His Presence saved them;
In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;
And He bore them and carried them
All the days of old.
10 But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit;
So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,
And He fought against them.

11 Then he remembered the days of old,
Moses and his people, saying:
“Where is He who brought them up out of the sea
With the shepherd of His flock?
Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,
12 Who led them by the right hand of Moses,
With His glorious arm,
Dividing the water before them
To make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the deep,
As a horse in the wilderness,
That they might not stumble?”

14 As a beast goes down into the valley,
And the Spirit of the Lord causes him to rest,
So You lead Your people,
To make Yourself a glorious name. Continue reading

(Colossians 1:2-6

We are writing to God’s holy people in the city of Colosse, who are faithful brothers and sisters in Christ.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.

This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.)

2 John 1:2-4

because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.

(3 John 2-6

Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. Some of the traveling teachers recently returned and made me very happy by telling me about your faithfulness and that you are living according to the truth. I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.

Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church here of your loving friendship. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that pleases God.) Continue reading
